Workshop Description
Christianity sometimes gets a bad reputation for being sexually restrictive, and/or sex-negative. This workshop is designed to empower individuals to embrace sex and sexuality as a natural and healthy part of life even in Christianity. Additionally, this workshop endeavors to equip practitioners with the knowledge necessary to work with clients who ascribe to the Christian religion. It will address myths and truths as relates to relationships, "acceptable" sex acts and pleasure principles. This presentation’s premise is that holiness and sexuality are not mutually exclusive. The aim is to empower participants (personally or in support of others) to resist the systemic teachings that perpetuate oppressive narratives, reclaim their human right to bodily autonomy that is granted by the sacred text, and redefine their future outlook regarding the discovery, embracing and navigation of their sexual selves that does not compromise their values.
Learning Objectives
Participants will examine personal biases regarding sexuality and religion
Participants will identify areas of the sacred text that promote the experience of pleasure
Participants will develop an increased knowledge on the 3 biblical intentions for sex
